Genetic Divergence Analysis in Rice (Oryza sativa L.) Germplasms under Sodic Soil

Background: Salt affected areas have increased day by because of excessive use irrigation water with improper drainage coupled the poor quality water. The assessment genetic divergence existing in germplasm collections is very important for success hybridization programme leading to development high yielding varieties. Methods: experiment on 113 genotypes (aromatic and non-aromatic rice) including three checks viz., Sarjoo 52, FL 478 CSR 10 (salt tolerant ) rice (Oryza sativa L.) was conducted work out divergence. Result: were grouped eleven different non-overlapping clusters. Cluster II, having 20 genotypes, emerged highest number entries. intra-cluster distance found cluster X. maximum inter-cluster recorded between VII XI. mean grain yield per plant observed III. Presence substantial diversity among lines screened present study indicating that this material may serve as good source selecting diverse parents further program aimed at isolating desirable segregants other characters.
